The Virginia Cavaliers opened the ACC season with a big 84-62 win over the Syracuse Orange on Saturday. The Cavaliers were led by sophomore guard Isaac McKneely, who scored 22 points on 6-of-8 shooting from three-point range. Virginia also got big contributions from senior guard Reece Beekman (14 points, eight assists) and senior forward Jacob Groves (12 points, seven rebounds).
The Knights shot 56.1 percent from the field, including 12-of-21 from three-point range. They also outscored the Orangemen 43-27 and forced 14 turnovers.

Syracuse was led by sophomore guard J.J. Starling, who scored 18 points. However, the Orangemen were just 7-of-24 from 3-point range and turned the ball over 14 times.
The Knights led by as many as 33 points in the second half. With hot shooting and strong defense, the Cavaliers eventually rallied to take the lead.
Virginia will continue its home stand this Tuesday when it hosts North Carolina Central.
